SkyTeam upgrade awards to Business class

SkyTeam airline alliance launch SkyTeam Mileage Upgrades program. SkyTeam Frequent Flyers on international flight itineraries can use miles to upgrade to Business class on most SkyTeam member airlines.

“The ability to earn and redeem miles has always been a key passenger benefit of
alliances,” said Leo van Wijk, SkyTeam chairman. “With the launch of SkyTeam Mileage Upgrades, we are responding to passenger requests as we look to continuously expand upon the benefits we offer our customers.”

You can order SkyTeam upgrade awards for all SkyTeam airline flights (except
Alitalia and SkyTeam associate airlines: Air Europa, Kenya Airways and Tarom). Just book an international, full-fare Economy Class ticket on any SkyTeam flight (i.e. a flight operated by a SkyTeam member airline such as delta airlines– code-share flights are excluded) and then upgrade one travel class, from KLM Economy Class or AIR FRANCE Voyageur Class.

For example, an Air France-KLM Flying Blue member traveling on Delta Air Lines
from Paris to Atlanta on a full fare economy class ticket can use 25,000 miles from
their Flying Blue account for a one-way upgrade to Business class. Once at the airport, the Flying Blue member can enjoy all of the additional benefits of Business class travel, such as additional luggage allowances, priority services and lounge
access.

Please request the award at least three days before departure, through any Flying Blue Service Centre. You should hold an Economy Class e-ticket. Multiple upgrades are not allowed for a single itinerary.

Remember that you can also use Award Miles to order upgrades for anyone you choose, even if you are not travelling with them.

If your flight leaves from the United Kingdom, France or India, there will be additional taxes for your Business Class flight, that you must pay beforehand. Also, airport and security taxes and fuel surcharges are not covered by your Award Miles and you must pay them separately.

The upgrade depends on availability of seats in the applicable class of travel.
